In LibreQR you can generate QR codes with different content types, depending on what you need to share. Choosing the right type makes the experience much more direct for whoever scans the code.
Available content types
- URL / web link: redirects to any web page, ideal for websites, online stores, or social media.
- vCard (contact card): stores contact details (name, phone, email, company) that the user can add directly to their contacts when scanning.
- Plain text: shows a fixed message or information, with no need for a web connection.
- WiFi: lets whoever scans it connect automatically to a WiFi network without typing the password.
- PDF / file: links directly to a document, such as a catalog, a menu, or a spec sheet.
- Email: opens the mail app with a recipient (and optionally a subject) already filled in.
- Phone: starts a call directly to the number provided.
- SMS: opens the messaging app with the number and, optionally, a predefined text.
How do you choose the right type?
First think about the action you want the person to take when they scan: visit a website? save a contact? connect to your WiFi? That action determines the content type you should select.
How to create a QR code with a specific type
- From your dashboard, create a new QR code.
- Select the content type from the list (URL, vCard, WiFi, etc.).
- Fill in the fields requested for that type.
- Customize the design if you'd like and generate the code.
Keep in mind you can create these content types as either static or dynamic codes, depending on whether you need to edit the information later.
