When you create a QR code in LibreQR, you can choose between two types: static and dynamic. Choosing the right one from the start will save you from having to reprint materials later.
What is a static QR code?
A static QR code stores the information directly inside the code itself (for example, a text or a URL). Once generated, the content cannot be changed: if you need to update the destination, you would have to create a new code. It also does not offer scan statistics.
What is a dynamic QR code?
A dynamic QR code points to an intermediate URL managed by LibreQR, which then redirects to the actual content. This allows you to:
- Edit the destination as many times as you want without changing the design or having to reprint the code.
- Check scan statistics, such as the total number of times it has been scanned.
Which one should you choose?
If the information will never change (for example, a fixed text or a WiFi network you won't modify), a static code is enough. If the code will be printed on durable materials (posters, packaging, business cards) or you want to be able to update the information and see how many people scan it, choose a dynamic code.
How do I choose it in LibreQR?
- From your dashboard, start creating a new QR code.
- Select the content type you want.
- Enable the dynamic option if you want to be able to edit it later and see statistics.
- Customize the design and generate your code.
